Full Circle Arts ran a taster workshop day for young disabled people at Oldham Gallery on 14th May 09.

This was a session designed to give the young people an idea of the work we do and to provide a foundation to encourage further engagement with future projects, including our summer project - Re-Mix. Follow the link to find out more!
Sarah Platts facilitated sessions in creative writing and photography, with support from two of our young artists Paul McDowell and Damien Hayward.
The day was a real success with each participant taking home a piece of creative writing and a portrait photograph, based around the themes of "Identity".
Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the day such a positive experience.
Full Circle Arts - Manchester Art Gallery Collections Project!
As you know at Full Circle Arts we like to offer you a diverse range of projects throughout the year. Kathryn our Arts Projects Co-ordinator organised a short project with Manchester Art Gallery. The project was a creative exploration of the “in-house collections” at the Gallery. The focus was on the fascinating collection of British Empire Marketing Board posters being researched. It was an opportunity to work directly with the art pieces they have in the gallery and produce a piece of visual art.
There was two sessions held on Saturday 21st June from 10am -1pm and Sunday 22nd June 08 10am – 4pm
SESSION 1
The first session was a discussion and reflection time for the participants to respond to the collection. There was time to view the work and debate ideas about how they resonate with modern society. There was also time for participants to explore an important area of the gallery and become familiar with using the collections in the future. Session one was facilitated by Melanie Horton who is a Manchester Art Gallery Collections expert.
SESSION 2
The second session was creative time in response to the ideas and thoughts from day one. We worked with Michelle Oakes (Creative Practitioner) to produce a visual piece of work that will be exhibited at the Full Circle Arts exhibition next year.
Propaganda, Pride and Prejudice: The Empire Marketing Board posters at Manchester Art Gallery
Gallery 11a
From Tuesday 15th July 2008 it will be possible to view a small selection of Empire Marketing Board posters at Manchester Art Gallery. For the fist time in nearly eighty years digital images of the whole collection will be available for you to view.
Included in the display is a feedback wall for you to tell us what you think about the collection and also a digital art work created in association with Full Circle Arts.
This small display adds to the focus that has been placed on this collection over the last two years and it is hoped that your comments on it will help us to develop new uses for the posters in coming years.
Manchester Art Gallery has been researching this collection of posters in association with the Manchester Metropolitan University. For more information about this research, please contact Melanie Horton at mailto:m.horton2@manchester.gov.uk

Thanks to everyone that took part and made it an amazing couple of weekends. There will be a follow up shortly and your feedback was greatly appreciated.

20:20 Vision - The Source Project 2004
Young Disabled People from all over Greater Manchester made a series of short one minute films under the theme of 20:20 Vision.
They explored what life may be like for Disabled people in the future and also the relationship between disability and new technologies. The results have been the creation of films from all over Manchester, many hilariously funny and all of them entertaining.
We were delighted to launch these films in Salford on 09 Dec 2004.
To see other films made by the young people please visit our youtube channel.
Divided Experience - Source Project 2003
In 2003, young Disabled people from Trafford and Salford created a DVD/CD Rom that explores the experiences of young Disabled people living in Gtr Manchester.
Using graphic design, drama, text and film, the DVD explores issues around education, employment, families, sexuality and access.
Divided Experience is ideal as a training tool and as a vehicle for promoting Disability Equality. The DVD is designed for people to use which ever sections are most appropriate and we were delighted launch this resource at The Waterside Arts Centre in Sale in December.
